UPDATE

Due to the holiday, garbage and recycling will be picked up on Friday this week.

Beginning June 1, 2022, McLaughlin’s Waste Disposal will be the Village’s new contractor for garbage and recycling removal.

Garbage and recyclables must be placed at the curb by 8 a.m. each Thursday (with exception of holidays previously advertised). Garbage should be in clear plastic bags. Recyclables (metal, cans, glass, plastics, newspapers, and magazines) can be mixed in reusable containers that are left at the curb (ex: trash containers, laundry baskets, etc.) No plastic bags. Thick corrugated cardboard torn down to a manageable size will be accepted. Limit 7 bags per household.

Please note that there may be two different trucks that come at different times during our collection day. One truck will be getting trash and one will be collecting recyclables. The new route will start on Main Street.

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Election of the Village of Moravia will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the Village of Moravia Justice Center, 48 West Cayuga Street, Moravia, NY between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m. for the purpose of filling the following offices and terms:

Two (2) Trustees - Two (2) year terms each

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village of Moravia Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, June 6, 2022 at or about 7:00 p.m., at the Village Office Board Room, 22 Central Street, Moravia, New York for the purpose of considering an Area Variance for James and Kay Vinsonhaler, property located at 5 Jewett Ave , which is Zoned Residential.

The applicant is seeking Board approval to construct a detached garage 10’ from the rear property line and 10’ from the south side yard property line. Section 605 Schedule II– Table of Dimensional Requirements of the Village of Moravia Comprehensive Zoning and Land Use Law #1 of 1988 requires a minimum 15’ rear yard line setback and minimum 25’ side yard setback in the Residential Zone.

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village of Moravia Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, June 6, 2022 at or about 7:15 p.m., at the Village Office Board Room, 22 Central Street, Moravia, New York for the purpose of considering an Area Variance for Robert and Cheryl Chapman, property located at 8 William Street, which is Zoned Residential.

The applicant is seeking Board approval to construct a wrap-around porch 16’ from the front yard line and 23’ from the north side yard line. Section 605 Schedule II– Table of Dimensional Requirements of the Village of Moravia Comprehensive Zoning and Land Use Law #1 of 1988 requires a minimum 25’ side yard setback and minimum 25’ front yard setback in the Residential Zone.

The applicant is seeking Board approval to construct an additional apartment over the existing garage. Section 604 Schedule I– Land Uses and Activities of the Village of Moravia Comprehensive Zoning and Land Use Law #1 of 1988 permits up to a two-family dwelling in the Residential Zoning District, of which there are two already existing dwellings on the property.
